Larry D. Proper

PROper Cutter was founded on January 15, 1974 by Larry D. Proper to service an evolving market within the metal cutting industry – the resharpening of industrial cutting tools. 

The original shop was comprised of a few grinding machines housed in a two stall garage at the family residence. The business grew quickly resulting in the need to move the operation to its current location in the early 1980’s.

 The years since have been filled with numerous expansion projects that have included investments in equipment as well as the hiring of talented and career-minded employees. In 1995 our first CNC tool & cutter grinder was installed to compliment an already extensive list of manual grinding machine. As carbide tooling became more prevalent, additional CNC machines were added to increase both capability and capacity. 

In 2013 PROper Cutter acquired a competitor that further expand our market share and customer base. Today, PROper Cutter is under its second generation of ownership and remains equally focused on continuing as the leader in our industry. The expertise of our skilled employees, along with advancements in grinding technology, are the key to reliably delivering precise high-quality cutting tool reconditioning that our customers expect.

2024 PROper Cutter will be celebrating their 50 years of being in business.
